If you happen to’ve watched DPReviewTV or perused any of the pattern galleries on dpreview.com you’ve seen photos of my daughter Maddie. Usually she likes to pose for the digital camera, some days greater than others. And I am so grateful that she nonetheless lets me take photos of her.
Nevertheless, my favourite image of 2022 was a very un-posed portrait of her. Leaning seemingly exhausted throughout the chair, searching into the yard. The sunshine from the window was giant and tender in nature. Usually with younger kids it is tough to get trustworthy and candid moments out of them. I knew this was a type of moments.
I shot this on the Leica M11, a digital camera which I had the great fortune to street-shoot with in New York Metropolis. A Leica rangefinder on the streets of NYC is a type of basic conditions that one goals about, and I preferred lots of the pictures from that journey. And but my favourite shot of the yr was a easy one taken in the lounge on a lazy Sunday.
